Scooter Rental Companies in Corfu
Corfu offers a wide range of scooter and motorcycle rental companies.
In most main resort areas, you will find several rental offices serving the local area. You can either book your scooter on arrival or pre-book online and arrange delivery to the airport, your accommodation, or pick it up from the company’s office.
Some hotels offer concierge services, but keep in mind that booking through a third party may include an additional fee.
Common Engine Sizes:
50cc → Car licence (European Category B) or moped licence (AM)
125cc → Motorcycle licence required (European A1, A2, or A)
Up to 35 kW (approx. 150cc–650cc) → Motorcycle licence required (European A2 or A)
Above 35 kW (power-to-weight ratio exceeding 0.2 kW/kg) → Motorcycle licence required (European A)
💡 Insider tip:
If you plan to rent a 50cc scooter with a passenger, avoid steep areas. The scooter may not have enough power, and the passenger may need to step off and walk.
What to Consider Before Renting
1. Driving Experience
Make sure the driver has sufficient experience. A holiday is not the ideal time to start practicing riding.
Why?
You may be unfamiliar with the roads and conditions
Tourist areas can have heavy traffic
Some roads are narrow, with steep inclines and uneven surfaces
You may need to stop on uphill or downhill sections
Riding with a passenger requires additional control
All of the above can increase the risk if the driver lacks experience.
2. Driving Licence
Ensure the driver holds the appropriate licence and that it is valid in Greece.
3. Terms & Conditions
Check:
Insurance coverage
Excess amount
Cancellation policy
What is included in the rental
Basic rentals should always include third-party insurance. Some companies offer additional coverage or reduced excess options.
4. Vehicle Model
Confirm whether you are booking a specific model or a similar category vehicle.
5. Age & Insurance Requirements
Make sure the driver’s age and experience meet the rental company’s insurance requirements. These vary between companies.
6. Reviews
Take a few minutes to read verified reviews.
If a company claims long experience but has little or inconsistent feedback, this may be a warning sign.

During Rental & Pick-Up Time
Confirm the return time clearly
Understand the insurance coverage in case of damage
Clarify the fuel policy
Ask how and when the deposit is returned
Know what to do in case of an incident
⚠️ If a company advises you not to contact the police in case of an incident, this is a red flag.
Before You Ride
Inspect the scooter for scratches or damage (including underneath)
Take photos or videos of the entire vehicle
Report any existing damage immediately
Check the Basics
Brakes: Test before leaving
Tyres: Check condition and manufacture date
Lights: Indicators, headlights, dashboard
Ignition: Make sure everything works properly How to Check the Tyres’ Manufacture Date
The first two numbers indicate the week, and the last two indicate the year of manufacture
